At Least 77 Wounded as Police Open Fire on Sana’a Sit-Inners

Sana'a- Mar 8, 2011- At least 77 sit-inners, three of them in critical condition, were injured, some seriously, when police opened fire on the youths at Sana’a University where tens of thousands have been conducting a sit-in for a fourth week vowing they will continue this until the regime was ousted.

Ghamdan Ghalib, a 29-year sit-inner, said riot police opened fire on the youths and other people after a dispute when the sit-inners tried to set up more tents in Al-Adl Street.

Thousand of anti-riot police and military vehicles were deployed to the streets of Sana’a, the capital, today in a precaution after hearing today was planned to be a day of rage and as the opposition has vowed to step up the anti-government protest.
