For the second time in just 3 days, Car Bomb Blast Targets Shiite Group in Saada Province

At least 2 Houthi follower was killed and eight wounded in a suicide attack which targeted a convey of Shiite Houthi came from Mareb on their way to funeral of Houthi rebel spiritual leader in Saada province northern Yemen on Friday.

Spokesman for the Houthi said, the incident occurred while the bomber detonated his car among the convey which including 40 cars in the northern province of Saada between Al-Taleh and Dhahian district.

The blast comes just two days after another car bombing in Yemen targeted a procession of Shiites traveling to a religious celebration, the Day of Al-Ghadir, killing at least 24 people and wounded others in Al-Jawf province.

Some authorities suspect that the two attacks were carried out by Al-Qaeda in Arabian Peninsula.

On the other hand, Houthi group announced yesterday the death of the Houthi rebel spiritual leader, Bader Al-Deen Al-Houthi at the age of 86 years.

Yemen has witnessed sporadic battles since 2004 between Yemeni government troops and rebels.

On Aug 26, the Yemeni government and Shiite rebels signed an agreement in Doha to cement a fragile cease-fire in northern Yemen that ended sporadic battles since 2004.
