Houthi's Leader Calls his Followers for the Day of Rage in Sa'ada

Sana'a- Feb 20, 2011, A spokesman for the Houthi information bureau, Dhaifullah Al-Shami said that the head of Houthi group, Abdul Malik Al-Houthi called on Saturday for the Day of Rage to be held in Sa'ada's districts.

The protest according to the Houthi information bureau will demand the ouster of President Saleh inspired by the revolts in Tunisia and Egypt.

On August 26, 2010, the Yemeni government and the Houthis signed an agreement in Doha to cement a fragile ceasefire in northern Yemen that ended sporadic battles since 2004. The agreement set a timetable for implementing previous truce deals, including the 2008 Doha peace agreement and the February 11, 2010 ceasefire deal.

Qatar started its mediation between the government and the Houthi Group few years ago, brokering a short-lived deal between the two sides in 2007.

The short-lived deal was breached by volatile confrontations until a sixth war erupted in mid-2009.

Sana'a- Feb 20, 2011, Hundreds of anti-government protesters gathered Sunday near a university at the Yemeni capital for a 10th consecutive day.

Protesters chanted anti-government slogans, "First Mubarak, now Ali," referring to Hosni Mubarak, who recently resigned as president of Egypt after nearly 30 years in power, and Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Pro-government demonstrators were also gathering near Sana'a University, according to Adnan Al-Nahari, a student at the campus.

Sana'a- Feb 20, 2011, Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh renewed his call for the Yemeni opposition, the Joint Meeting Parties, JMP, to resume dialogue with the ruling General People Congress party due to civil unrest through the country.

Saleh's call came on Sunday in his meeting with capital's political and social figures in which he called on the opposition parties for dialogue, "Dialogue is the best means, not sabotage or cutting off roads," said Saleh.

He confirmed readiness to meet their demands if they are legitimate, "I am ready to sit on the negotiating table and meet their demands if they are legitimate''.

Sana'a- Feb 20, 2011, The opposition Joint Meeting Parties called Yemeni youths to join protests against Yemeni government in which demanded the fall of President Ali Abdullah Saelh's regime.

In a statement the JMPs' leaders urged their partners and all Yemen's civilians to take to the streets in huge protests across Yemen's provinces against the regime.

The JMP refused President Saleh's call to the dialogue.

Sana'a- Feb 20, 2011, Southern Movement opposition chief leader Hassan Baoum was arrested Sunday in Aden by Yemeni authorities from Nakeeb hospital.

Sources added that he was taken to the hospital on Saturday night after of infecting of heart attack.

Authorities accused Baoum of inciting and calling for separating the south from the north.

Lately, Hassan Baoum called for the Day of Rage to be held in southern provinces against Yemeni government.

Yemeni Court Sentence Seven Drug Smugglers to Death

Sana'a- Feb.20, 2011, A Yemeni Court in Hadramout sentenced seven drug smugglers, including a fugitive, to death after of being accused of brining in and possessing 2.4 tons of narcotic substances.

The verdict was included of confiscating the two boats they used for transferring the drugs, in addition to some weapons.

The suspects were captured in September 2009, while trying to bring about 2.4 tons of Hashish into Yemen by sea in Haswin area of southern province of Mahrah.
