Saleh meets senior army, security commanders

SANA'A, March 24 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh met with the senior army and security commanders on Thursday and discussed several issues related to the responsibilities of the armed and security forces amid the current developments in Yemen.
At the meeting, President Saleh blamed the Joint Meeting Parties, the opposition coalition, for the current political crisis and its impacts on the national security, unity, and democracy practice.
The army and security commanders affirmed they will honor their vow for protecting the country and maintaining the national unity and security, saying the armed and security forces will face all projects aimed at destroying Yemen and harming its unity, security, social peace, democracy and constitutional legitimacy.
On the other hand, President Saleh chaired the meeting of the General Committee of the General People's Congress, the ruling party, which focused on the latest developments that come as a direct result of the political crisis blamed on the opposition.
The committee discussed the suffering of the people amid lawbreaking and illegal acts committed by the Joint Meeting Parties, the opposition, and the Houthi Group.
Appreciating all initiatives announced by President Saleh to address the current situation, it called on the JMP to make up their minds and respond to the president's offerings in the best interest of the country.
The sabotage acts committed by outlaws including attacks against the public compounds in Marib, Jawf and Saada provinces boosts the current unrest and harms the public security and peace, it said.
The sabotage also affects the lives of the people as looters have recently attacked power lines in Marib plunging cities into darkness and closed the gas transport road causing an acute shortage of domestic gas and diesel, it concluded.
