SANA'A, Mar 7, 2011- President Ali Abdullah Saleh met here on Monday with Director-General of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) Abdulatif al-Hamad.
At the meeting, President Saleh discussed with al-Hamad relations of cooperation between Yemen and the Fund.
Al-Hamad pointed out that, during his current visit to Sana'a, four finance agreements were signed for a number of projects worth USD 328.8 million .
The agreements included contributions of the AFESD in financing the phase II of the gas power plant in Marib province with USD 150 million, USD 100 million for the Social Fund for Development, USD 42 million for the project of Dhamar-Husseinyah road ,USD 35 million for the phase III of the crossroads project in the capital Sana'a, and USD 800 thousand million for the renovation project of Al- Jame'a Al-Kabeer ( the Big Mosque) in the old city of Sana'a.
They also touched on measures to accelerate the implementation of the Taiz Airport development project, which is funded by the AFEST.
President Saleh praised the existing relations between Yemen and the Arab Fund, expressing his appreciation for the role played by the Fund in serving and improving the development in Yemen.
