Police Officer Escapes Assassination Attempt in Abyan

Abyan- Mar 8, 2011- An officer in Yemen's intelligence apparatus in Abyan escaped on Tuesday an apparent assassination attempt after armed men, believed to be suspected Al-Qaeda militants carried out an attack on Major Mohammed Ali Samegha.

Source said Samegha was put on Al-Qaeda black list after being pursued Suspected Al-Qaeda militants within the area.

Samegha was taken immediately to the hospital after being wounding in his leg.

Eyewitnesses told the Yemen 24 News that residents in zinjabar noticed some slogans were written on the walls of Zinjabar such as '' Ja'ar is an Islamic state, and it rules of an Islamic law, Al-Qaeda rules by God's law.''
