An officer kidnapped by AQAP in Yemen's Hadhramout

By Fatik Al-Rodaini
SANA'A, March 22, 2012- An officer was kidnapped by suspected Al-Qaeda militants in Yemen's southern province of Hadhramout.
"Faraj bin Qahtan, an officer in Political Security division in Al-Mukallah was kidnapped on Wednesday morning, taking him to unknown place,'' a Security source said.
"A motorcycle belonging to Militants hit him while he was on his way back home,'' the source added
Ever since AQAP’s declarations that it would systematically target all government institutions, a new wave of kidnappings, bomb attacks and threats swept through the southern region, forcing the government to ramp up its alert level and mobilization of counter-terrorism resources.
The incident underscores the high level of lawlessness in this poorest country of the Arabic Peninsula, adding to the challenges faced by President Abdu Rabbo Mansour Hadi, who took office last month after a year of massive protests that forced out predecessor President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
