BRUSSELS, Feb.22 (Saba)- Speaker
of European Parliament, Martin Schulz, has considered February 21 a historic
day for Yemen.
In a statement released Wednesday
in Brussels, Schulz pointed out that the participation in the election
highlighted the presence of overwhelming support for the process of democratic
transition, congratulating Yemeni people on the success of the election.
“The new Yemeni government is now facing many
challenges including the fight against poverty, strengthening the internal
security and combating terrorism”, he added.
He called on Yemen neighboring
countries, the European Union and the international community to support the
Yemeni government to address these issues.
