Sana'a - Insurgents suspected to be linked to al-Qaeda have kidnapped seven Yemeni soldiers in the southern province of Abyan, local media reported Wednesday.
The soldiers were kidnapped late Tuesday in an ambush on the outskirts of Zinjibar, the capital city of Abyan, the Yemeni website Lahjnews said quoting security sources.
The abductees were taken to unknown whereabouts, according to the sources. There was no immediate comment from the army.
The Yemeni army has been conducting military operations in Zinjibar against Muslim radicals with suspected links to the terrorist organization al-Qaeda since May.
