Yemeni Government Welcomes GCC's Initiative

Sana'a, Apr 11, 2011- Yemen's government welcomed the efforts by Gulf Cooperation Council, GCC, to resolve the current situation in Yemen between the Ruling General People Congress party and the opposition coalition, the Joint Meeting Party, JMP.

The source said that President Ali Abdullah Saleh wants peaceful and smooth transfer of power under the constitution.

An official source confirmed that Yemen will deal positively with this GCC statement as a basis for dialogue, so as to keep the country away from chaos, vandalism and instability.
