SANAA, Mar 14, 2011- Security officials say two Americans and two Britons have been detained by authorities in Yemen for illegally entering the country.
The officials say the four, three journalists and one researcher, were taken into custody on Sunday. The officials didn't identify the organizations the four work for or explain the circumstances of their arrest.
The detentions come as Yemen is roiled by unrest. Protesters demanding the ouster of longtime President Ali Abdullah Saleh have for weeks staged daily demonstrations in Sanaa and elsewhere in the impoverished country.
The government has used violence against the protesters.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to the media. They said the foreigners will be deported later Monday.
