Opportunity to join a leading project management company in Yemen. Working on a mixed use development the successful candidate will be the responsible for

* Interface with client on all aspects of cost.

* Prepare and analyse cost variance reports, cost performance index

* Prepare project budgets, cost estimates and cost management plans and cash flows

* Prepare monthly cost reports

* Oversee the activities of preparation of contractor's bids and interface with contractor throughout tendering process.

* Deal with all final account issues

* To be totally conversant with all FIDIC forms of contracts.

* Have experience in claims and disputes.

* Value Engineering experience.

* Experience in life cycle costing.

* Interface with Client on all project financial matters

To apply candidates should meet the following criteria

Degree in Quantity surveying minimum requirement. RICS certification not essential.

Conversant with cost planning, budgeting & cash-flow development through various stages of design

Ability to develop costs & unit rates from first principles.

Develop and improve on cost control tools.

Ability to assess pre-tender documentation and assist in procurement management.

Knowledge of cost plus contracts

Residential/commercial developments essential

Must come from a PQS background.

Knowledge of infrastructure works will be good, though not essential

Sana'a Protesters Urge Saudis to Free Prisoners

Sana'a- Mar 8, 2011- Yemeni people have vowed to escalate protests that have swept the country, demanding the resignation of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, after he rejected a plan that would have him step down in 2011.

Hundreds of protesters also gathered outside the Saudi Embassy calling for the release of all Yemeni nationals from Saudi jails.

The Yemen Center for Human Rights has expressed deep concern regarding the Yemeni government's failure to address repeated humanitarian appeals regarding Yemeni citizens who are being held in solitary confinement, without trial, in Saudi Arabia.

The Yemen Center for Human Rights has demanded the immediate release of the Yemeni citizens from Saudi prisons and providing all immediate guarantees for the detainees, such as allowing them to assign lawyers for themselves.

The center has also urged the Yemeni government to protect the rights of its citizens being held outside Yemen . Hajj Abdu Salah, a former inmate, had this to say to Press TV.

Apart from routine and modest consular communications, the Yemeni authorities have not made any serious attempts to secure the release of the Yemeni prisoners in Saudi Arabia . No Yemeni official has raised this issue with the Saudi authorities, nor have they demanded from the Saudis that they cease the detention of Yemeni citizens in a way that violates International laws and standards.

According to the demonstrators in Sana'a, this is particularly disappointing, given that both countries are members of the UN Human Rights Council and seek to appear to be among countries that respect and promote the protection of human rights.

Security measures taken to ban weapons in major cities

SANA’A- Mar 8, 2011- The Interior Ministry ordered on Tuesday its security services to tighten security measures to enforce a ban on carrying weapons in the capital Sana’a and major cities of the country.

In a press release, the Ministry said that all security patrols, checkpoints and security centers across Yemen should apply strict security measures against the holders of weapons.

It confirmed that all official permissions to carry weapons had been invalid, excluding the permissions issued personally by Interior Minister Mutahar al-Masry.

President Saleh recalls for national dialogue

SANA’A, Mar 8, 2011- An official source from the Presidency Office said on Tuesday that President Ali Abdullah Saleh has renewed his call for a comprehensive national dialogue to address the current developments taking place in the country and the Arab region.

The source said to Saba that the national dialogue aims at facing current challenges targeting the country’s security, stability and national unity.

The President recalled on all political forces, civil society and youth organizations, parliament and Shura members, local councils, clerics, sheikhs, social figures and women to participate in the proposed national dialogue to address the current national issues and to produce a united vision to protect the national unity, security, democracy and accomplishments.

At Least 77 Wounded as Police Open Fire on Sana’a Sit-Inners

Sana'a- Mar 8, 2011- At least 77 sit-inners, three of them in critical condition, were injured, some seriously, when police opened fire on the youths at Sana’a University where tens of thousands have been conducting a sit-in for a fourth week vowing they will continue this until the regime was ousted.

Ghamdan Ghalib, a 29-year sit-inner, said riot police opened fire on the youths and other people after a dispute when the sit-inners tried to set up more tents in Al-Adl Street.

Thousand of anti-riot police and military vehicles were deployed to the streets of Sana’a, the capital, today in a precaution after hearing today was planned to be a day of rage and as the opposition has vowed to step up the anti-government protest.
